Best Pet Brand Ambassador Programs (2026)

11 real programs you can join right now — even with a small following.

By Iana, co-founder of Nicole & Nora

A brand ambassador program is the easiest way to start working with pet brands before you have a big following. Most will send free products, give you a personal discount code to share, and pay you a commission — and a lot of them accept creators with just a few hundred followers. Below are 11 real programs, what each one actually gives you, the requirements, and how to apply.

🐾 Small account? Don't skip this. Several programs below (Bullibone, Meowingtons, Paw-Berries) only ask for an active Instagram — no follower minimum, or as few as 200. Ambassador programs are where most creators land their first collaboration.

Ambassador vs. affiliate vs. brand deal

These three overlap, and brands use the words loosely, but here's the honest difference:

One honest caveat: many ambassador programs pay in store credit or product, not cash. That's fantastic for stocking up, building a portfolio, and getting your first "worked-with" logos — but it's not immediate income. For that, see earning your first $1,000.

The 11 programs

1. Chewy

Best for: bigger, established accounts

The most recognizable name on this list. Chewy's creator program runs like a serious affiliate partnership with real perks on top.

You get: 10% base commission (15% for top performers), a 30-day cookie window, free product seeding, a 20% personal discount code, early access, and a dedicated affiliate manager.

Requirements: roughly 5,000+ followers, a public profile with consistent posting, and FTC-compliant disclosure.

Apply: Chewy Affiliates — approval in about 3–5 business days.

2. BarkBox

Best for: dog creators whose audience loves subscription boxes

The themed monthly toy-and-treat box. A flat bounty per sale makes earnings easy to predict.

You get: about $20.80 per referred sale, plus an affiliate dashboard with your unique links.

Requirements: an application covering your audience; a website or blog helps a lot for conversions (7-day cookie window).

Apply: via the BarkBox affiliate page.

3. P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyle And You)

Best for: creators who post beds, toys & lifestyle

Design-forward beds and toys with one of the more generous, community-driven programs — and it's one of the few that offers cash, not just credit.

You get: gifted products and early access, payment in store credit or cash depending on the "mission," commissions, content features, and invites to in-person events.

Requirements: no follower count stated; currently US only. You're expected to actively complete missions.

Apply: download the Club app and use P.L.A.Y.'s invitation link.

4. Primal Pet Foods

Best for: the most free product

If your goal is a stocked pantry and a real gifting relationship, this is the standout — up to ten products a month.

You get: up to 10 products monthly, Primal merch each month, and featured content on their website, blog, and social.

Requirements: US or Canada residency, and content that fits their values (they list passion, honesty, inclusivity, fun).

Apply: search "Primal Pet Foods ambassador" for their current application page.

5. Bullibone

Best for: total beginners

Chew toys and bones — and the single lowest barrier to entry here. If you've been waiting to "be big enough," start with this one.

You get: 20% commission on referred orders (one of the highest here), exclusive discounts, featured placement, swag, and exclusive products.

Requirements: "an Instagram account is the only requirement."

Apply: search "Bullibone ambassador program" and complete the form.

6. HuggleHounds

Best for: durable-toy and tough-chewer accounts

Known for near-indestructible plush toys. A clean code-plus-commission structure.

You get: a unique 10% discount code for your followers, 10% commission on every sale it drives, and first access to major sales and new products.

Requirements: 18+, US-based, an active public Instagram or TikTok for your pet, and you follow @hugglehounds. Being an existing customer helps.

Apply: their brief Google-Form application; they reply within 30 days. Terms run 4 months.

7. The Foggy Dog

Best for: apparel & accessories content

Modern collars, bandanas, and home goods with a low, clear follower bar.

You get: 10% store credit on purchases made through your referrals.

Requirements: 18+, an active Instagram with 250+ followers and roughly 3 posts a week; quality and engagement are weighed.

Apply: the Foggy Dog ambassador application.

8. Wufers

Best for: treat & "taste-test" content (real cash)

Hand-decorated dog cookies — very photogenic, and it pays cash rather than credit.

You get: 10% commission on all sales from your referral link.

Requirements: 18+, US or Canada, an active social account and a PayPal account; reviewed case by case.

Apply: search "Wufers ambassador" for their affiliate/ambassador page.

9. Farm To Pet

Best for: treat creators who want a welcome gift up front

Single-ingredient treats with a flat-fee structure that rewards bringing in new customers.

You get: $10 on every first purchase and $2 on repeats, a welcome gift, and a 10% code for your followers. There's also an Amazon route paying 15%.

Requirements: a simple application; no follower minimum stated for the website program.

Apply: the Farm To Pet affiliate page (links a Shopify Collabs account); they respond within about 48 hours.

10. Paw-Berries Bandanas

Best for: teen creators & very small accounts

Handmade bandanas with the youngest age bar on this list — a genuine option for under-18 creators.

You get: 10% store credit on sales from your social channels.

Requirements: 16+, US-based, an Instagram with 200+ followers and about 3 posts a week; follow and like their Instagram.

Apply: search "Paw-Berries brand ambassador" for the current form.

11. Meowingtons

Best for: cat accounts

The cat pick. Apparel, accessories, and cat-themed everything, with a warm, community-first program.

You get: exclusive discounts for you and friends/family, complimentary merch, worldwide meetup opportunities, direct access to the founder, and a role in their "help cats in need" work.

Requirements: 16+, you own Meowingtons products, a public Instagram, and you're a genuine cat person. No follower minimum stated.

Apply: the Meowingtons ambassador page; allow 2–3 weeks.

How to actually get accepted

Applications are usually short, but a few things move you from "maybe" to "yes":

  1. Apply to brands you already buy. Almost every program above weighs genuine fit. "I already feed my dog this" is the strongest possible pitch, and several (HuggleHounds, Meowingtons) explicitly favor existing customers.
  2. Tidy your grid first. A clear niche, a readable bio, and 6–9 strong recent posts do more than raw follower count. Our media-kit guide shows exactly what to put front and center.
  3. Post consistently before you apply. "3 posts a week" appears again and again as a requirement — show you already do it.
  4. Pick 3–4, not all 11. Managing codes and content for a handful of aligned brands beats spreading yourself thin across brands you don't actually use.
  5. Always disclose. Ambassador and affiliate content requires clear disclosure (e.g. #ad or "affiliate"). It's the law, and brands screen for creators who get it right.

FAQ

Do I need a lot of followers to become a pet brand ambassador?

No. Several programs here have no follower minimum or ask for as few as 200 (Bullibone, Meowingtons, Paw-Berries). Brands care more about a clear niche, consistent posting, and genuine fit than raw numbers.

Do pet ambassador programs pay money or just free products?

It varies. Some pay cash commission (Wufers, Chewy, BarkBox), some pay store credit (The Foggy Dog, Paw-Berries), and some are mainly gifted product (Primal). Many combine a discount code, a commission, and free product.

Can I be an ambassador for more than one brand?

Usually yes, as long as they're not direct competitors and you keep disclosure clean. Managing 3–4 aligned brands well is more effective than joining everything.

Is there a cat-specific ambassador program?

Yes — Meowingtons is the clearest cat pick here, and many "pet" programs (Chewy, P.L.A.Y.) work for cat content too. More on cat accounts in our cat influencer guide.
